Features of Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
This member of the Canon 5D Mark family is a powerful option for professionals, offering the highest quality in photography and video. Stay with us to find out everything you need to know about this model!
Among the most striking features of the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV are its powerful 30.4 megapixel CMOS sensor, an ISO between 100-32000 (expandable up to 50-102400), its DIGIC 6+ image processor, the possibility of recording video in 4K, a sophisticated autofocus system, touch screen, Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS. Another great detail is the Dual Pixel RAW, which allows some special adjustments to be applied to the images during post-processing.
Canon says the Mark IV comes with great improvements in image quality, performance and versatility. This involves improvements in focus, dynamic range and noise control. Thus, this new camera is perfect for any photographer or videographer. Later we will see in depth the most relevant functions offered by this camera, which is available at B&H.

Features of the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
The body of the Mark IV is sealed in the most important places to protect it from the weather. The camera weighs approximately 800 grams (890 if we count the battery, CF card and SD card). Also, the viewfinder has coverage of 100%, vertically and horizontally.
The 3.2-inch LCD touch screen is another of the strongest points of this camera. According to the information shared by Canon, this quality guarantees a more comfortable and efficient operation.
On the other hand, it includes a fast DIGIC 6+ image processor that allows you to record video in 4K and capture bursts of 7 shots per second with great quality and without any problem.
It is worth mentioning that the camera has a new system in its composition that reduces the vibration produced by the movement of the mirror when shooting.
Sensor
The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV has a 30.4 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor that promises a very high resolution.
As mentioned earlier, the ISO sensitivity has a range of 100-32000, but can be expanded to 50-102400. Also, it has an effective noise reduction system (thanks to the DIGIC 6+ processor) to achieve good exposure without sacrificing image quality. In this way, this member of the 5D Mark family performs well in poor light conditions.
Focus
The new Mark IV has a refined 61-point autofocus (AF) system (41 cross). In addition, it includes Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology to achieve a fast, accurate and uniform focus on 80% of the image plane when using the AF in live view mode or during video recordings. This system, together with the touch screen, allows you to define the sharp points of the frame with a simple touch, in addition to ensuring smooth and accurate focus transitions. It is perfect to keep the subject sharp even when it is moving.
Similarly, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV has a 150,000 pixel RGB + IR measurement sensor that works alongside the camera's AF to ensure adequate exposures. Also, this sensor features an intelligent recognition and tracking system (iTR AF), which automatically changes the focus points to "chase" the main subject. With it, it will be easier to configure the ideal settings for each photo when using the AF.
Dual Pixel RAW
Canon reveals for the first time a new world of possibilities with the inclusion of the Dual Pixel RAW (DPRAW) function that uses the dual pixel system information (Dual Pixel) that we mentioned earlier. This new technology allows capturing heavier RAW files with more data to make other changes in post-processing.
These DPRAW files support three special modifications: adjusting the sharpest area in the frame, moving the bokeh and reducing ghosting and flare.
It should be noted that this function can only be used when editing in Canon Digital Photo Professional software.
Video
One of the qualities that most draw attention to this camera is the ability to record video in 4K (4096 x 2160) at 24 or 30 frames per second. In addition, from 4K videos you can save captures on the memory card as JPEG images of 8.8 megapixels.
Also, the Mark IV can record videos in Full HD (1920 x 1080) at 60cps and HD (1280 x 720) at 120cps.
As we said above, the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system will allow precise autofocus during video recordings. With it, you can ensure a crisp subject even if it is in motion, always keeping the background out of focus.
Connectivity
The camera comes with integrated Wi-Fi to connect to a smartphone, tablet or laptop, to share images easily and quickly. In addition, it includes NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to transfer files to a compatible Android device or to a Connect Station CS100 (wireless hard drive manufactured by Canon that works via Wi-Fi and NFC).
Also, using the Canon Camera Connect application (available for iOS and Android), remote photos can be taken by configuring all camera controls wirelessly.
GPS
Together with all the functions we have seen, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV also includes GPS to save the location information in the image file.
